Who needs what to go through from EURO 2020 groups

Let’s check out what the teams have achieved so far in Euro 2021’s group stages and who will be making a journey to the last 16!

No remaining fixtures:A

Italy would be through after victories in their first three games against Turkey, Switzerland, and Wales. After winning 1-0 against Wales on Sunday, they will finish first in the group. Italy won for the 11th time in a row, extending their unbeaten streak to 30 games across all games.

Wales, despite being well defeated by Italy 0-1 in Rome on Sunday, has been qualified second from Euro 2020 Group A.

Switzerland, winning 3-1, Switzerland has 4 points but still has to be behind Wales - the team lost 0-1 to Italy, due to the inferior difference. The clock country team will have to wait until the remaining tables are finished to know if they are in the group of 4 third-placed teams with the best results.

Finally, Turkey has no chance of reaching the last 16. Although North Macedonia was eliminated first, Turkey is the team with the worst results at this year's tournament, with only 1 goal.

Rank: 1. Italy 2. Wales 3. Switzerland 4. Turkey

Remaining fixtures: B

Monday, June 21: Russia vs. Denmark, 8 p.m. (Copenhagen); Finland vs. Belgium, 8 p.m (St Petersburg)

Belgium advanced through the knockout stages after defeating Denmark 2-1, and with at least a tie against Finland on Monday, they will win the group.

In the meantime, Finland and Russia are tied for third place with three points each, while Denmark is at the bottom of the table after losing its first two games. This all implies that Russia will advance with a victory over Denmark, or a draw if Finland loses to Belgium.

Also, if Russia loses to Denmark, Finland will advance with a win or a tie.

Finally, if Denmark defeats Russia and Finland defeats Belgium, Denmark could be the runner-up squad but everything will rely heavily on the goals scored in these two games.

Rank: 1. Belgium 2. Russia 3. Finland 4. Denmark

Remaining fixtures: C

Monday, June 21: North Macedonia vs. the Netherlands, 5 p.m. (Amsterdam); Ukraine vs. Austria, 5 p.m. (Bucharest)

After a 2-0 victory over Austria on Thursday, the Netherlands qualified for the last 16 as Group C winners, whereas North Macedonia became the event's first team to be eliminated after losing to Ukraine 2-1.

Regardless of the result in the final group match on Monday, Austria or Ukraine will finish second, with the latter securing the runners-up spot by a tie in Bucharest.

Rank: 1. Netherlands 2. Ukraine 3. Austria 4. North Macedonia

Remaining fixtures: D

Tuesday, June 22: the Czech Republic vs. England, 8 p.m. (London); Croatia vs. Scotland, 8 p.m. (Glasgow)

Whereas England's current four-point haul should guarantee them to advance as one of the four best third-placed teams even if they lose to the Czech Republic on Tuesday, they must have at least a tie to be certain of moving ahead, and only a victory will assure them advance as the top of the group.

In the meantime, a tie for the Czech Republic would guarantee that they finished first in their group and would encounter one of Portugal, Germany, France, or Hungary.

If England finishes second, they will confront the second-placed squads from Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, or Slovakia.

For Scotland, anything but a win over Croatia will suffice if they are to advance to the last 16.

Scotland should qualify as one of the four third-placed squads if they win and England and the Czech Republic draw.

Rank: 1. Czech Rep 2. England 3. Croatia 4. Scotland

Remaining fixtures: E

Wednesday, June 23: Slovakia vs. Spain, 5 p.m. (Seville); Sweden vs. Poland, 5 p.m (St Petersburg)

With four points after Friday's win over Slovakia, Sweden is almost certain to advance to the last 16.

Slovakia defeated Poland in their tournament-opening game, but they are still on three points heading into their final match against Spain. A point could do to get them into the last 16, but a loss would put their advances in jeopardy.

In the meantime, Spain still needs a lot of time and effort after a 0-0 tie with Sweden in the first game and a 1-1 tie with Poland in the second.

With Poland's performance, they managed to survive their tournament, and all four squads still have a chance to finish in the top two on the final day.

Rank: 1. Sweden 2. Slovakia 3. Spain 4. Poland

Remaining fixtures: F

Wednesday, June 23: Germany vs. Hungary, 8 p.m. (Munich); Portugal vs. France, 8 p.m. (Budapest)

With their thrashing of Portugal, Germany moved into second place in the group, while Portugal missed out on a position in the last-16. Even so, following France's 0-0 draw with Hungary earlier on Saturday, the final round of games in Group F still matters for all.

All four teams are likely to earn an automatic berth or advance to the next round with a high point total in third place.

Rank: 1. France 2. Germany 3. Portugal 4. Hungary

According to wikipedia, the tie-breakers for determining the best third-place teams are:
