Top 5 Premier League scorers of the English top-flight from Asia

Since its inception, the Premier League has seen legends from all over the world. The Premier League has produced world-class players ranging from free-scoring strikers to rock-solid defenders. While European and Latin American footballers dominate the scene, many Asian and Oceanic players have also raised their flags in English land.

All of the Premier League champions have used Asian players at some point, primarily from South Korea, Japan, and Australia. Although Ji-Sung Park is still considered the greatest Asian player to ever play in England, there have been title winners like Shinji Okazaki, Champions League winners like Harry Kewell, and Ballon d'Or nominees like Tim Cahill and Hueng. - Not to mention Min Son. As a result, let's take a look at the top five Asian scorers.

5. Chris Wood - New Zealand - 48 goals

Chris Wood has gained recognition during his current stint at Burnley, despite his arrival on the UK scene in 2008. Wood is the sixth New Zealander to play in the Premier League, having previously represented West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City, and Burnley. By combining his time at all three clubs, Wood has made a total of 143 Premier League appearances and scored 48 goals, 47 for Burnley and 1 for Leicester.

4. Tim Cahill - Australia - 56 goals

Cahill, arguably one of England's most famous Asian players, first joined the league when he joined Millwall. He achieved fame, however, while playing for Everton, where he made 226 appearances and scored 56 goals. During his time in Merseyside, Cahill won numerous individual awards, but his biggest hit was nominated for the 2006 Ballon d'Or.

3. Harry Kewell - Australia - 57 goals

Harry Kewell was from the same country as Cahill, but their time in England was rivaled because they both played for Merseyside teams and were separated by only one goal. Kewell is the third highest-scoring Asian of all time, with 57 goals in 274 games. However, he made a name for himself in Leeds, where he scored 45 goals and was plagued by injuries during his time at Liverpool.

2. Hueng-Min Son - South Korea - 73 goals

Son Hueng-Min is without a doubt the most popular Asian player in Premier League history, but he still falls short of being the top Asian goal scorer. Son has been a talisman for Spurs since he arrived in 2015, making 202 appearances and scoring 73 goals. He is, however, ahead of all non-Oceania scorers, and if things continue as they are, he could become the all-time leading Asian scorer in another two years.

1. Mark Viduka - Australia - 92 goals

It may come as a shock, but Mark Viduka, an Australian legend, is the greatest scorer from Asian soccer of all time. In the 2002/03 season, he was the face of the Leeds team in the Premier League, scoring a total of 20 goals. When Leeds was relegated, he went on to play for Middlesbrough and Newcastle, scoring 92 goals in 240 appearances over nine Premier League seasons.
